Diversity and Complexity

Achievement/Results

Scott Page’s new book Diversity and Complexity explores the role and functions of diversity in complex systems. Touching on ideas from economic, biological, and information sciences, Page’s work shows how diversity contributes to system level robustness and innovation. The book addresses these topics with formal models. Recently, Page testified before a subcommittee of the House Science and Technology Committee on the relevance of diversity to economic robustness and innovation.

Address Goals

This book shows how ideas can transfer across disciplines and lead to deeper understandings in each discipline. The book strips away jargon that make many ideas impenetrable to non experts and focuses on core ideas and insights that enable the ideas to translate across contexts.
