Innovation to Proseminar Course

During this past year we made an important innovation to the Proseminar Course taken by all incoming Neuroscience students that we hope we will generalize to all incoming students in all of our graduate programs. The innovation was that we now use volunteer postdocs to work with the first year students to rehearse and design research and journal club presentations. The result of this intensive mentoring is a palpable increase in the quality of the research presentations of this cohort of first year students. Several of the IGERT trainees have already benefited from this improvement, and incoming IGERT trainees will benefit this coming year from this new strategy.
