New course developed by trainee advisor

A new course (CEE 5984: Environmental Nanotechnology) has been developed by EIGER trainee advisor Peter Vikesland, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This is an interdisciplinary, learner-centered graduate level course that highlights the behavior and understanding of natural, manufactured, and incidental nanomaterials in the environment, with emphasis on the land and water environmental compartments. An important aspect of the course is the examination of the application of nanotechnology to environmental remediation and monitoring. Fellow trainee advisor Linsey Marr, also an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, joins the course to facilitate the study of airborne nanoparticles. This course spans several fields of study including materials engineering, interface and surface science, chemistry, physics, geosciences, and social science.
