Achievement

In January 2011, the NSF CREATE-IGERT program was honored to host the director of the National Institute for Food & Agriculture, Dr. Roger Beachy. Dr. Beachy gave the Distinguished Lecture at our annual symposium and participated in viewing the CREATE-IGERT trainee posters. Trainees met with Dr. Beachy during the event and were able to discuss their projects and receive feedback from one of the founders of the field of plant biotechnology. The experience was very rewarding for the trainees, especially the exposure to Dr. Beachy's "big picture" talk on agricultural challenges facing the United States and global community.
