Trainee work in biomaterials receives awards

Amalie Oroho was awarded with the MRS Poster Award for her work, "Biomaterials for Bone Tissue Engineering" at the annual Materials Research Society International Fall Meeting. Amalie's research addressed biomaterials and processing methods that overcome the current shortcomings of bone replacements and their mismatch in mechanical properties, structure, and chemistry. Results demonstrate the ability to tune structure, properties, and materials to achieve ideal bone replacement. Amalie's work was also recognized with a NSF EAPSI award for 2011 that will provide her with the opportunity to study abroad in Japan with foreign researchers, and a 2010 honorable mention for the 2010 NSF GRFP.
