Collaboration results in Thz spectrometer

IGERT trainees, Glen Guglietta of Drexel University and Danielle Reifsnyder of the University of Pennsylvania, in collaboration with their respective advisers, Dr. Jason Baxter and Dr. Christopher Murray, are investigating charge and energy transport in semiconductor nanocrystal-based solids with time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy and transient absorption spectroscopy. Danielle's expertise in synthesis is instrumental to Glenn and Dr. Baxter's work, and complements Glenn's experience in time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy. This collaboration has resulted in the construction of a THz spectrometer in Baxter's laboratory as well as the publication of an invited review paper, expected summer 2011. Applications of this research include LEDs and solar cells.
