Interdisciplinary partnership created

An interdisciplinary partnership of two MASB scholars, Sam Evans (an agricultural economist) and John Field (a mechanical engineerer), was created resulting in a revolutionary publication integrating economics and engineering systems approaches focused on one question. Sam and John's paper, "A Technology-Specific Methodology for Evaluating the GHG Mitigation Potential of Advanced Improved Cookstoves," was accepted for an oral presenation at the 12th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate coming up in June 2011. This is the first publication of its kind in which technological improvements for emissions were also measured by economic viability and sustainability. Sam and John met in the first MASB cohort, and their ability and interest in collaboration was highly encouraged and supported through the IGERT program.
