Estimates of ecosystem metabolism

During the summer and fall 2011, Kevin Rose organized and led an international collaborative research effort to better understand how physical processes in aquatic ecosystems affect estimates of whole ecosystem metabolism. This research uses high frequency buoy data (temperature, light, wind speed, and dissolved oxygen) from 17 lakes located on 4 continents, including data generated from EARS IGERT buoys. The results of this study will be used to improve estimates of ecosystem metabolism and a manuscript based on these results is currently in preparation with plans to submit to Limnology and Oceanography Methods by June 2011.
