Trainee carries out experiments at U of Hawaii

Trainee Michael Norris is working with MGGen at Northern Arizona University Pathogen Genomics Center, where he carried out experiments at the high containment facility at University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine to identify the differences in infectivity of Australian and Thai isolates of Burkholderia pseudomallei. Genomic material was sent to NAU and in a collaborative effort it will be submitted to Next Gen Illumina sequencing to pin-point the genetic differences leading to disparate disease outcomes. Norris will visit Northern Arizona University for training in data analysis upon completion of data acquisition.
