Achievement

Within these first few months, we selected our first cohort (9) of very high-quality trainees, along with ~ 11 IGERT PhD Associates (non-tuition/stipend but participate in IGERT activities). This group of ~ 20 PhD students is well-balanced across different core science and engineering fields, mid-level and first-year students, and are active in cross-group cross-departmental interactions.

Programmatically we also emphasize significantly on minority and women representation, where 9 out of 20 are women, 3 out of 20 are African American/Hispanic ethnicity. We will continue to trend in our second cohort selections.
