Trainee launches start-up company, Inserogen

Trainee Lucas Arzola is developing plant-based transient expression technology and has filed for IP protections for his nascent company, Inserogen. In launching his start-up, Lucas has received an NSF I-Corp Award, has made numerous entrepreneurial pitches to investors, including Angels on Campus. He was also selected for the NCIIA Open Minds competition and exhibit, participated in the Coalition for National Science Funding event in Washington DC, and was invited to present a technical talk to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Finally, Inserogen was selected to become a member of the new UC Davis CoE Engineering Technology Transfer Center. Over the past year Lucas has honed his versatile, entrepreneurial skill sets and is a wonderful mentor to the junior CREATE-IGERT trainees. He willingly shares his knowledge and experiences, informally and during the Peer Group seminars.
