Trainees organize two-day visit by Nancy Langston

GLOBES trainees organized a two-day visit by environmental historian and author Nancy Langston of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Highly regarded for her interdisciplinary research, Langston explores the interconnected histories of ecosystem health and human health. In preparation for the visit, the GLOBES fellowship community chose her first book, "Forest Dreams, Forest Nightmares" for its book club discussion group. During the campus visit, Langston gave a public lecture on her recent book "Toxic Bodies" that describes the impact of hormone disruptors on human and environmental health. Langston also met with GLOBES faculty from multiple departments, participated in the book club discussion group, and, at her suggestion, accompanied trainees on a nearby field trip to Warren Woods State Park to explore local environmentally sensitive preserves. GLOBES fellows secured sponsorship participation, planned the two-day visit, and communicated all scheduling details with Langston.
