Achievement

Trainee Andrea Tiwari won a prestigious Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) STAR Graduate Fellowship in 2011. Her interdisciplinary training through our IGERT project surely played a role in garnering the fellowship because one of the selection criteria is the applicant’s potential for broader societal impacts, such as the ability to “collaborate in a trans-disciplinary setting.” Her research proposal demonstrated the ability to synthesize research questions and tools across chemistry and engineering.
