Trainee Achievements

Trainees organize joint seminars and symposiums, workshops

The trainees organized three large events on campus: (2) quarterly joint seminar and symposiums in which a renowned scientist in their field presents a seminar to the campus and the trainees hold a poster session on their research and (1) two day workshop on renewable and sustainable energy technologies. The poster session at each seminar/symposium allowed the trainees to develop their skills in presenting their research. For some of the trainees, it was their first time creating a research poster and participating in a poster session. The two day workshop, ReSET 2012 (Renewal and Sustainable Energy Technology Workshop), included keynote speakers and panelists from UCLA, other universities, local government, the National Science Foundation, and local businesses. Students from other IGERTs and universities also participated in the poster session. The workshop attendees included university students, K-12 educators, and the general public throughout Southern California.
