Trainee founds software company and receives awards

Building from the expertise he gained in computer modeling and optimization as an IGERT trainee, materials engineering student William Gathright has founded a company called Tumalow. Tumalow makes software for the optimal design and sizing of energy storage devices for customers such as large office buildings. This business has won acclaim from industry experts as well as funding though the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute business-plan competition. Due in large part to the research done and partnerships forged through the IGERT program, Will was awarded the Founder's Award from RPI. The Founder's Award is the highest award that RPI grants to students.
