IGERT trainee studies abroad to learn ChIP

Fellow, Christopher Ricupero, studied abroad in Spain and learned the ChIP technique. Chromatin Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) is a technique that allows one to read the chromatin state of certain key lineage genes. Ricupero was able to introduce the ChIP technique newly to the Keck Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers. By learning this technique, he was not only able to apply it to his research to show that neural precursors restricted to a neuronal or glial fate have very different chromatin profiles, but he was able to teach the technique to other members of his laboratory.
