Achievement

On April 10, IGERT trainees participated in a multi-day technical writing workshop on professional publication, communicating science to the public, and careers in science writing conducted by Joe Alper, technical writer for the National Cancer Institute. As part of the experience students were introduced to Strunk and White, developed short descriptions of their research for a potential funder and a lay audience, and received individual and small group feedback on their writing. Trainees found the experience uniformly valuable and requested additional opportunities.
