Koobi Fora Field School (KFFS) in Kenya

In 2012-13, our program became the new home of the Koobi Fora Field School (KFFS), the best known and longest running field school of its kind. The KFFS brings students from around the world to the eastern shores of Lake Turkana, Kenya, where the geological 'Koobi Fora Formation' preserves Pliocene and Pleistocene fossil and archeological evidence of human evolution and its environmental context. The KFFS offers our IGERT trainees access to important sites for their research, and offers training in multiple disciplines including archeology, geology, ecology, taphonomy, osteology, and paleontology.
