Team members participate in first Lacawac Ecological Observatory Workshop

In June 2012, Lacawac Sanctuary hosted the first annual Lacawac Ecological Observatory Workshop (“LEOW”) based on the IGERT grant. This workshop trained students, faculty, and technicians to use advanced aquatic sensors and networks, manage data, and analyze large datasets. Session leaders were experts in the field and included leaders from the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network, Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Lehigh University, Fondriest Environmental, and the New York Department of Environmental Protection. There were 36 participants from 15 institutions and 4 countries (USA, Canada, Sweden, and Tanzania). In total, 12 current and former IGERT trainees participated along with several IGERT faculty.
