Publication of three mammalian genomes

Members of our IGERT team, including Co-PI Sandra Rodrigeuz-Zas and advisor Jin Ma, were part of consortia that published three mammalian genomes: the pig (Groenen et al. 2012 Nature), Tibetan antelope (Ge et al. 2013 Nature Communications) and Yak (Qiu et al. 2012 Nature Genetics). These genomes are providing the raw data for our students to take advantage of for analysis and comparison to each other and with existing genomes. These genomes are also providing key insights into the genetic architecture that allows animals to live in extreme environments (e.g. high altitudes), and the history of animal domestication.
