Achievement

After arriving last fall, the students took part in a new Orientation Course aimed at helping IGERT Fellows transition to the graduate environment. This course engaged the students with active learning exercises on topics including time management, ethics in science, how to write grant proposals, and how to choose a dissertation topic. Students were all required to write a grant proposal and engaged in peer review of each other’s proposals. This course is now being integrated into the general curriculum for incoming graduate students in the School of Integrative Biology.
