Nanotoxicology curriculum in development

Faculty in nanotoxicology have held several planning sessions to develop a nanotoxicology curriculum. The PI also attended an interdisciplinary curriculum workshop sponsored by NSF in Couer d'Alene, Idaho. We focused on identifying the skills and knowledge students need to become interdisciplinary nanotoxicity researchers via a survey of researchers, and then determined which areas already were covered within our curriculum and whether they were were accessible to students outside the department in which the course is offered. This summer, the committee will use the survey information and analysis to develop modular courses that present graduate-level information and methods, but that do not require an undergraduate degree in the subject area. The first of these courses will be offered in Fall 2013.
