Working groups develop core curriculum

For the startup of IGERT, the faculty have organized themselves into working groups to develop the interdisciplinary core curriculum that prepares students for the integrative Greenland Field Seminar in summer 2010. In this process we have identified new research areas and themes for IGERT faculty and trainees and are establishing targets for research proposals that focus on Greenland. Research and logistical preparations for our Field Seminar planning trip in summer 2009 trip by a team of four faculty and two IGERT fellows has been invaluable for team building. Incoming IGERT students will join the field team through an interactive blog and IGERT.org. IGERT faculty Hawley and Kelly have submitted new NSF grants for research on the Greenland ice sheet and in east Greenland and if successful will provide new research opportunities for IGERT students.
