Quantum Information Science Teaching Laboratory

Dr. Franco Wong -- with the help of two iQuISE Associates -- has been setting up the Quantum Information Science Teaching Laboratory. This facility, which should be up and running by the summer of 2009, will afford iQuISE Associates the opportunity for hands-on experience with state-of-the art quantum optics experiments including testing Bell’s inequalities on polarization-entangled photon pairs. The Teaching Laboratory will also be used for demonstration purposes in several graduate classes and in the Quantum Information Science for Undergraduates (QuISU) program. QUISU is an outreach and recruitment program aimed at rising seniors who are interested in graduate study in quantum information. It will be offered for the first time in June 2009 with an expected enrollment of 21, including 4 women and 2 underrepresented minorities.
