Self-directed inquiry in a laboratory setting

A primary goal of our Hybrid Neural Microsystems course is self-directed inquiry in a laboratory setting. The primary goals for the course is for each team of students to explore a research area linked to these neurobiological system and related technology presented in the course, to propose a research project to control the activity of the targeted neuronal system, and to complete this research project and write/present the results. The quality of the projects in this year’s course were excellent, and some of these projects are being pursued further as thesis research and/or for publication.
