IGERT Fellows Facilitate After-School Session for Middle School Girls

Description

After attending a training with Project Exploration on educational outreach, two IGERT fellows from the University of Chicago and Northwestern University facilitated a session for Sisters4Science, Project Exploration’s after-school program for middle school girls. Sisters4Science is Project Exploration’s year-round after-school and field program for middle school girls that combines science exploration with leadership development. The goals of Sisters4Science are to:
•Create a safe space for girls to explore science and develop leadership skills;
•Introduce girls to the wide variety of roles played by women in science;
•Improve girls’ overall attitudes about science by developing team-building, communication, and leadership skills.
