IGERT Story

Climate change, bees, and parasites

Description

UC Davis featured the research of ecology graduate student and REACH IGERT trainee Shahla Farzan on its web page. Farzan examines the effect of climate change on populations of solitary bees and their parasites. Climate change has the potential to affect activity of both bees and their parasites. Further, because the bees pollinate fruit orchards, reductions in bee population size caused by the parasite may affect pollination services.
